HSBC IBA Business Case Competition 2020 in partnership with UNDP Bangladesh

The HSBC – IBA Business Case Competition in partnership with UNDP is designed to provide a platform for youths to apply practical business knowledge and skills in real-life business scenarios.

The brightest minds from the top business schools of the country will face each other off. Teams will take part in the first round of the competition and those selected will then be groomed in the art of case solving and presentation through a comprehensive workshop. Afterwards, they will be subjected to a series of competitive rounds where they will be judged based on the effectiveness of their solutions and the manner of presentation. Participating teams will not only get the opportunity to improve their business knowledge but also learn vital skills required at the workplace and day-to-day life communication, problem-solving, prioritization, creativity, and public speaking techniques. The competition is open to undergraduate students currently enrolled in any business school in Bangladesh.

Team Composition:
• Each team will consist of four students currently enrolled in a business school from the same university.
• No substitutes allowed.
• Maximum up to 4 teams would be able to participate from each University/Institution.

Workshop: March 20, 2020
After selection, the top 50 to 60 teams will be invited to a day-long workshop conducted by industry experts and teachers on the analysis and solution of business cases. After the workshop, the teams will be split into groups based on a lottery

Round 1: March 21, 2020
Each team will have to solve a business case in 3 hours and present it afterwards to a panel of judges. The teams will be given 15 minutes to present and 10 minutes for a Q&A session. The top 30 teams will progress to the next round.

Round 2: 28 March 2020
This round will be similar to Round One where each team will have to solve a business case at the IBA premises within 3 hours and present it afterwards to a panel of judges. The teams will be given 15 minutes to present and 10 minutes for a Q/A session.

Round 3 (Bangladesh Finale): April 11, 2020
Group champions (5 teams) will be given a business case at the venue of the local finale to be solved within a time frame of 3 hours. They will then present their recommendations in front of a panel of judges. Winners from Bangladesh will be crowned in this round.

Regional Finale:
The Gold team from Bangladesh will compete against the Gold teams of other Asian countries and territories in a similar format of solving business cases and presenting to a panel of judges for the regional Best of the Best, First Runners-Up and Second Runners-Up Awards. The three regional awards will consist of trophies and cash prizes. The regional finale will take place in the first week of June 2020.

• Universities can select and register a maximum of four teams made up of 4 members each.
