Water.org is hiring Senior Regional Grant Specialist 2022 in Dhaka.

Key Responsibilities

Pre-Award Planning + Administration (25%)

Act as a key resource to the region’s business planning and operations to consolidate tracking of new funding needs and ensure timely, accurate preparation of concept notes, proposals, and other methods to secure funding for execution, including, but not limited to:

  • Support management of the pre-award tools and processes for communicating and tracking funding within data management systems and other applications/platforms, such as PowerBI.
  • Lead assigned proposal development processes, in partnership with relevant regional and/or global stakeholders, including accurately representing regional strategic and execution priorities, budgetary needs and other resource needs. Ensures adequate stakeholder management and communication across regional and/or global teams.
  • Write, review and edit grant proposals and budgets, and other donor communications requested by Strategic Development to ensure they are high quality and meet internal and external deadlines.
  • Respond to donor questions, feedback and revise proposals as needed.

Post Award Planning + Administration (50%)

Provide overall administration and monitoring of an assigned portfolio of awards within the region. This includes implementation of the award management cycle, including but not limited to:

  • Implement post award processes from kick off to close out, bringing a deep understanding of grant deliverables, deadlines, and agreement terms, as well as partnering closely with business line teams to ensure awards are integrated into ongoing execution processes and progress towards deliverables is achieved.
  • Manage a calendar of report deadlines and coordinate across team members to ensure grant reports meet internal and external deadlines as well as reporting requirements and standards.
  • Act as the Point of Contact for assigned donor reports, convening related stakeholders to compile programmatic, financial and impact data to develop a compelling narrative that meets internal and external requirements and deadlines. Content may also include case studies, borrower stories, etc.
  • In collaboration with regional finance and business line teams, ensure regular review and analysis of spending plans and ensure accurate forecasting of grant spending and time utilization documentation is submitted on time and available for regional metric analysis and reporting.
  • Provide overall project management support and close coordination with regional leadership and other key stakeholders for scope change orders that affect an awards’ deliverables and/or spending plan.

Award Management Performance & Tracking (25%)

  • Regularly evaluate assigned portfolio in terms of KPIs and related metrics through comparison of actual performance with budgeted/planned objectives and determine causative factors in expenditure trends; formulate and escalate corrective actions, as applicable.
  • Partner with Regional Insights and business line teams to track and consolidate impact and partner-related data necessary for award management processes and deliverables.
  • As directed or assigned, identify and/or coordinate assessment of pre- and post-award process improvements and/or other initiatives designed to improve efficiency of the region’s operations.
  • As directed or assigned, identify training and capacity development needs; participate in designing and implementing training designed to ensure consistent performance award management standards and metrics for the region.

Summary

The Senior Regional Grant Specialist within the Global Impact department is responsible for day-to-day administration of the organization’s pre and post award workstreams, processes and deliverables at the regional level. This individual will act as a strategic business partner to the region’s business functions to coordinate alignment of country/regional-level interventions across multiple funding streams, ensuring adherence to and integration of award management global standards and compliance necessary for integrity of the organization’s funding processes.

Reporting to the Team Lead, Award Management, South Asia, this position plays a critical role in proposal writing and coordination, report writing for a portfolio of active awards and supporting internal process optimization and special projects with minimal support from the supervisor. The Senior Regional Grants Specialist consistently exhibits effective behaviors and skills to support effective business partnering and communication across multiple functions, operational rigor and integrity to ensure exceptional stewardship of philanthropic assets.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent related work experience
  • Five or more years of relevant work experience supporting grant administration, program management and/or proposal development in a complex, global organization, including:
    • Demonstrated knowledge of grant management and administration principles,
    • Proficient analytical and reporting skills, with a proven ability to translate data into clear, meaningful insights for multiple audiences.
    • At least three years of experience overseeing proposal development and/or grant administration, encompassing a diverse portfolio of grants/funding sources with proven understanding of donor communication, proposal development and grant reporting.
    • Proven technical proficiency in MS Office 365 software, specifically Excel, and related digital platforms.
  • Exceptional customer mindset and ability to communicate, influence and work across diverse teams and cultures.
  • Proficient (written and verbal) in English

Preferred:

  • Advanced knowledge of project management standards and principles and/or demonstrated project management experience.
  • Exposure to and/or understanding of financial institutions and/or financial services sector within the region.
  • Knowledge of water and sanitation and/or financial services sector.
  • Experience in developing and deploying new processes or standard work and developing and deploying training programs
  • Language(s): Proficiency (written and verbal) in other languages, such as Bangla, Hindi or Tamil, is a plus.

Travel Requirement:

  • Up to 10% of domestic and regional travel.
