The Commerce Co (TCC) is hiring Head of Engineering – Shipping 2022 (Remote)
Job Responsibilities:
- Build and lead a team of high-performing engineers. You’ll be hands on building amazing products for our eCommerce merchants, and at the same time, lead a team of engineers through hiring, coaching, mentoring, feedback, and career development.
- Scaling the team from 3+ engineers to 30+ engineers over the next 12 months. We have ambitious goals and to achieve them we need to significantly grow & develop our team.
- You’ll be excited by the challenges that come with scaling an engineering team and have experience in solving them effectively.
- You will work cross functionally with product managers, general managers, customer teams, operations and senior leadership team. You’ll support strategic planning for our product vision & translate this vision into an executable & rigorous product roadmap with defined timelines to help us achieve our end of 2022 goals & solve our merchants’ problems.
- Mature our engineering function. As we grow you’ll be responsible for evolving our engineering processes & infrastructure to keep us delivering customer value at speed. You’ll be ensuring consistency across our teams for role responsibilities and levels and enhancing our onboarding experience.

Eligibilities
- Bachelors / Masters degree in Computer/Software Engineering
- Minimum 2 years of leading and / or building an engineering function ground up.
- Strong communication skills, within your team but also with non-technical stakeholders.
- You’ve led an engineering function through rapid growth. You’ve experienced the challenges of building, scaling and evolving teams and navigating through ambiguity.
- You’re confident in navigating the early forming and storming phases of teams. You’ve been instrumental in establishing new teams from scratch, deciding on the roles, recruiting to fill them, and grown them into highly-effective teams.
- Have a strong product development background. You’ve managed complex technical projects and know how to build products and features from scratch. You have experience in PHP/Laravel, JavaScript/Typescript, React, MySQL database
- You’ve partnered with product management and design leaders to make difficult scoping and design decisions in order to regularly deliver valuable features to customers.
- Preferred experience with Shopify, Shopify REST & GraphQL APIs, Admin and Merchant
