Abt Associates is looking for Research and Learning Specialist, Bangladesh Nutrition Activity 2022 in Dhaka

Key Roles And Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) Director, the Research and Learning Specialist will lead planning, implementation, and utilization of a primary research plan for the Activity.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Building on the Activity’s goals and objectives, interventions and activities proposed by technical leads, evidence collected through routine project monitoring, and the learning agenda, lead development of an annual primary research plan and budget for the activity.
  • Lead development of study protocols for proposed primary research plan, including research objectives, information to be collected, target respondents, data collection method/s, analysis plan, and sampling plan and sample size. Develop data collection instruments, obtain approval from Abt’s Institutional Review Board (IRB) as required.
  • Contribute to procurement of qualified primary research agencies to conduct studies as per annual research plan by developing scopes of work and by evaluating proposals received.
  • Manage subcontracted primary research agencies to produce high quality primary research outputs; train BNA teams in conducting in-house research studies.
  • Conduct analysis of primary research data and review/produce research reports to identify specific achievements, learning, and adaptation recommendations for technical leads.
  • Champion and conduct “data-to-decision” meetings so that the program/technical teams internalize findings and take appropriate actions for course correction / improvements to programming. Facilitate the lesson learned workshop (national and sun-national level) to demonstrate the project best practices, lesson learned, and evidence.
  • Prepare briefs on the Activity’s collaborating, learning, and adapting (CLA) initiatives. Disseminate the Activity’s CLA initiatives through participation in workshops, conferences, and competitions. In collaboration with technical leads and the Communications Director, support the preparation of success stories, lessons learned reports, best practices, and fact sheets that can be distributed to the wider development community.
  • Other duties as required.

Eligibilities

  • In-depth knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies required, including development of study designs and tools for qualitative and qualitative studies
  • Ability to lead the workshop and share the study findings in front of the larger audience
  • Experience conducting focus group discussions, key informant interviews, and other participatory research methods, to inform new initiatives
  • Experience in managing field research projects, including survey work, project implementation, and partner relationships.
  • Statistical analysis using STATA, SPSS, or other similar software.
  • Experience in conducting research studies to assess and improve performance of branded fast-moving consumer goods.
  • At least 2 years’ experience of working with market research agencies in Bangladesh.
