The Filmmaker Challenge by So Are We Initiative is a challenge for aspiring Bangladeshi filmmakers to help change the perception of women in narrative media initiated by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Bangladesh, in partnership with Studio Dorset.
The Challenge aims to tackle the issues of patriarchy in narrative media by providing the Bangladeshi aspiring filmmakers with the knowledge, tools and resources to produce counter narratives that do not view women through the lens of patriarchy. The objective of the Challenge is to connect the existing divide between independent filmmakers and independent film financiers, as well as, inspire a new generation of filmmakers and enable them to make stories that have a positive impact.

Alongside mentorship, the winner and runner-ups who will receive BDT 500,000, BDT 350,000 and BDT 200,000 respectively in the form of cash prize, production and post production services.
Eligibilities
- You are an aspiring Bangladeshi Filmmaker
- You have story idea for a short film that you want to make
- Your story does not have patriarchal tropes
- You have previously made a short film

◉ You are asked to complete the four given questions. You are allowed to use the internet or any reference materials that you feel are appropriate to answer the questions.
◉ Answer ALL the questions in English. Use this same document to answer the questions and create as many pages as you may require.
◉ Your data will be protected: please be sure that we will not share your application details and ideas outside of the selection panel of judges – you hold the rights to your ideas.
◉ You will need to provide concise answers. Please do not exceed the word limit mentioned in each question.
