MSCA is seeking a highly motivated and talented Doctoral Researcher to join our team for a Ph.D. research topic ‘Image reconstruction in high temporal resolution functional MRI of the brain’. The objective of the research is to develop a novel combination of advanced (compressed sensing-based) image reconstruction methods and optimal fMRI data collection techniques, such as radial zero-echo time fMRI, which can produce high temporal and spatial resolution fMRI with random repeated stimulus. The research can result in major advances in functional imaging techniques of the brain, paving way for breakthroughs in basic research of the brain, and the approaches developed are expected to also have high translational potential to diagnostic imaging and high commercialization value. Applicants may modify this research topic or suggest their own topic in the motivation letter. The suggested topic must be in the research area of the Neuro-Innovation DP and the hosting research group.

The person to be appointed to this position will work in the Computational Physics and Inverse Problems research group at the Department of Applied Physics. The group is affiliated with the Centre of Excellence of Inverse Modeling and Imaging, Academy of Finland). The host team collaborates closely with the Neurobiology of Memory group and the Biomedical Imaging group at the A. I. Virtanen Institute which houses world-class research facilities and active research for preclinical MRI and electrophysiology.

The selection process will follow the Charter and Code for the recruitment and selection of doctoral researchers. The main duty of the Doctoral Researcher is to complete their doctoral dissertation in accordance with their research proposal writing at the beginning of the employment period.
