KNB (Kemitraan Negara Berkembang) Scholarship is a prestigious scholarship provided by the Directorate General of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Culture of Indonesia, for international students from developing countries who desire to pursue their bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degree in Indonesian universities. This scholarship program offers the chance to learn and experience life in the middle of Indonesian culture. Therefore, international students will obtain both educational scholarship and a deeper cultural understanding of Indonesia.

Eligibilities

Bachelor 

  • Be a citizen of a developing country;
  • Be in good health;
  • Maximum age is 30 years old;
  • Have graduated from High School;
  • Have a good command of English and or Indonesian;
  • Have a recommendation from an Indonesian Embassy in your (nearest) country.

Masters  

  • Be a citizen of a developing country;
  • Be in good health;
  • Maximum age is 35 years old;
  • Hold a bachelor’s degree with a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.25 out of 4.00
  • Have a good command of English and or Indonesian;
  • Have a recommendation from an Indonesian Embassy in your (nearest) country.

Doctoral 

  • Be a citizen of a developing country;
  • Be in good health;
  • Maximum age is 40 years old;
  • Hold a master’s degree with a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.00 out of 4.00
  • Have a good command of English and or Indonesian;
  • Have a recommendation from an Indonesian Embassy in your (nearest) country;
  • Have a recommendation from a prospective supervisor from UM.

Application Process

  • BACHELOR AND MASTER
    • Step 1: Request for a Letter of Recommendation.
      • Download the Invitation Letter on the KNB Scholarship Official website
      • Submit the offer letter by attaching a Curriculum Vitae, a scanned copy of passport, academic certificate, and academic transcript(s) to the Indonesian Representative (The Embassy of The Republic of Indonesia or Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia) in the relevant country to obtain a Letter of Recommendation from the Indonesian Representative as the main requirement to continue the registration process.
      • Submit the letter in the KNB Online Application.
    • Step 2: KNB Online Application
      • Visit KNB Website
      • Click ‘Sign In’ on the top right corner of the page, then Click ‘Sign Up’ and fill in your email address.
      • Check your email and click on the confirmation link sent by the KNB. The link will take you to the sign-in page, and you must sign in using the account you have created.
      • Fill in your application by clicking the ‘Create Application’. The required information contains different sections (personal information, academic information, university and study program, statement, and submit data).
      • Upload the required documents. All required documents must be scanned into electronic documents in jpeg or .jpg format with the maximum size per file is 300kb.
      • After you have filled in the application form, please make sure the data you entered is correct. Click the ‘submit’ button to submit your application.
    • Step 3: Selection and Final Result
      • Selection process: administrative and online interview.
      • Final Announcement will be announced no later than the 1st week of June 2021 and available online on the KNB Scholarship Official website: www.knb.kemdikbud.go.id and through the Indonesian Representative publication network.
      • After receiving the selection results, candidates who receive the KNB Scholarship are required to submit a Statement of Receiving KNB Scholarship, Letter of Agreement KNB Scholarship, scanned passport biodata page, and Confirmation Willingness to come to Indonesia, on July 1, 2021, through the Indonesian Representative in the country concerned.
  • DOCTORAL
    • Step 1: Request for a Letter of Recommendation and Letter of Offer.
      • Download the Invitation Letter on the KNB Scholarship Official website: www.knb.kemdikbud.go.id .
      • Submit the offer letter by attaching a Curriculum Vitae, a scanned copy of passport, academic certificate, and academic transcript to the Indonesian Representative (The Embassy of The Republic of Indonesia or Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia) in the relevant country to obtain a Letter of Recommendation from the Indonesian Representative as the main requirement to continue the registration process.
      • Contact your potential supervisor at Universitas Negeri Malang and ask for a Letter of Offer from a Prospective Supervisor.
      • Submit the letter in the KNB Online Application.
