British Council Scholarship for Women in STEM 2021/22

Eligibilities

To be eligible for a British Council Scholarship for Women in STEM an applicant must:

• Apply for and fulfill the entry criteria for admission to the following full-time courses, as confirmed by the British Council:
  • MSc Public Health & Health Promotion (FT)
  • MSc Disease Mechanism and Therapeutics (FT)
  • MSc Biomedical, Biomechanics and Bioelectronics Engineering (FT)

• Be in receipt of an offer to study on one of the above programmes starting in September 2021.
• Have been assessed by Brunel University London as an international student for tuition fee purposes. Applicants who are unsure of their fee status should note Brunel uses the information you have provided in your application form to assess your fee status against regulations set by the UK government. For information on these regulations please visit the independent organisation UKCISA’s website
• Applicants must be nationals and residents of the eligible countries in South Asia, listed below, as confirmed by the British Council:
  • Afghanistan
  • Bangladesh
  • India
  • Pakistan
  • Nepal
  • Sri Lanka
• Be in receipt of an Academic Unconditional Firm offer of place by the time Scholarships are confirmed in September.
• Demonstrate a need for financial support.
• Have an undergraduate degree that will enable them to gain access onto one of the eligible Brunel MSc courses.
• Attain the level of English required for postgraduate study at a UK university now or upon completion of a pre-sessional English course.
• Demonstrate they are active in the field with work experience or a proven interest in their subject area.
• Be willing to engage as committed British Council scholarship alumni.

 Those applicants not eligible for these Scholarships

• Applicants NOT classed as Overseas for fees purposes.
• Applicants who hold dual citizenship.
• Applicants holding an offer on a course other than a course specified above.
• Applicants who will NOT commence their course in September 2021 – applicants holding offers for deferred entry must apply for scholarships in the month and year they intend to start their course and not in the year of their course application.
• Undergraduate applicants entering a course at any level.
• Applicants applying for part time, distance learning or online version of the above courses.
• An employee, a former employee, or relative* of an employee of Her Majesty’s Government (including British Embassies/High Commissions; the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy; Department for International Trade; the Ministry of Defense; and the Home Office).
• An employee, a former employee, or relative* of an employee of the British Council Scholarships for Women in STEM – eligible countries.
• Any applicant currently in receipt of financial support or funding towards a study program in the UK from any other source.
• Have previously studied in the UK with funding from a UK Government-funded scholarship or a UK institutional scholarship/financial bursary.

*Relatives are defined as parents or step-parents, siblings or step-siblings, children or stepchildren, spouse, civil partner or unmarried partner (where the couple have been in a relationship akin to marriage or civil partnership for at least two years).
