The Department of Music at Pittsburg State University is an accredited member of NASM, the National Association of Schools of Music. The department averages 100 music majors and 40 minors, and 200 non-music majors per semester,
The cultural life of Pittsburg State University and the area which it serves is enriched by the many musical performances presented by the Department of Music faculty recitals, student recitals, chamber music concerts, concerts by their large ensembles, opera productions and the Solo and Chamber Music Series.

Complete the online application form. You can choose one of the three options below-
- Option 1 – Scholarship Audition Day
- Friday, February 21, 2020 (reservation required)
- This option includes a general meeting with the music faculty and the Student Advisory Council, as well as opportunities to observe ensemble rehearsals. For first consideration, submit a scholarship application and audition video by February 21, 2020. (International Applicants: On the application, select “By Appointment” and put a link to your audition video in the “Comment” box. International applicants do not need to audition in person.)
- Option 2 – “Audition Fridays”
- 1 p.m.: Vocal Auditions
- 2 p.m.: Instrumental Auditions
- This option is available on most Fridays of the fall and spring semesters.
- Reservation required;
- Appointments scheduled as space is available.
- Option 3 – by appointment If neither of the above options is possible, a limited number of specially-arranged audition appointments may be scheduled.
