The Warburg Institute associated with the University of London, is offering a number of Long-term Research Fellowships for the academic year 2019-20.

The Warburg Institute is renowned across the world for the interdisciplinary study of cultural and intellectual history, particularly the role of images in culture. It is dedicated to research on the history of ideas, the dissemination and transformations of texts, ideas and images in society, and the relationship between images, art and their texts and subtexts. The Institute is offering a number of Long-term Research Fellowships for the academic year 2019 – 2020.

The Research Fellowship is offered in memory of Dame Frances Yates, who died in 1981. The research fellowships are for scholars in the early stages of their careers. Candidates must be postdoctoral and have been awarded their doctorate within the preceding five years

Benefits

Starting salary of £ 30,512 will be provided for nine months including London Allowance.

Eligibilities

  • Candidates must be postdoctoral and have been awarded their doctorate within the preceding five years, i.e. after 1 October 2013
  • Candidates must make a clear case in their application for any modification of this general rule, If the doctorate was awarded before 1 October 2013.
  • Applications will only be accepted from candidates who have successfully completed the defence of their doctorate (viva) before 23 November 2018.
