AfChix is a network of African Women in Technology registered as non-profit in Kenya. AfChix originated in 2004 as Linux Chix Africa and has over the years evolved to what is now AfChix. We create opportunities and platforms for nurturing women in technology so they succeed in their careers. We also address the pipeline issues related to limited women taking up academic programs in computer science and related fields. We conduct career guidance seminars and events targeting high school girls and encourage them to take up STEM subjects. We use our mailing lists, website and social media platforms to demystify computer science and information technology – with a goal of increasing the number of women in these important sectors.
The AfChix Tech-Women Summit is planned alongside the 2018 AFNOG Events that will lead up to the Africa Internet Summit conference in Dakar, Senegal.
