1. Dental Pain, Complications and Treatments:

Dental pain: Toothache is caused when the nerve to a tooth is aggravated. There are various reasons for tooth torment. Most of dental issues can be forestalled by keeping up with fundamental oral cleanliness. There are several different conditions that can lead to the onset of tooth pain. They include:

Infected Gums – Poor oral hygiene is the cause of infected gums. Over time, it will lead to the build-up of plaque. The bacteria will cause your gums to become red, bleed and swell up. This directly contributes to tooth pain.
A Damaged Filling
Pregnancy – pregnancy too can lead to tooth problems and tooth pain. Fluctuating hormone levels during pregnancy may lead to tooth decay and pregnancy gingivitis.
These complications are rare and are a result of an untreated maxillary dental infection .tooth pain i.e. Sinusitis, Cavernous Sinus Thrombosis, Submandibular Space Infection etc. The treatment for tooth pain depends solely on the cause of its onset. If a cavity is the reason for your tooth pain, your dentist will either extract the tooth or fill the cavity. Like medications, antibiotics, pain control.

2. Dental Public Health & Dental Hygiene:

Dental Public Health: Dental Public Health (DPH) is a Para-clinical specialty of dentistry that deals with the prevention of oral disease and promotion of oral health. Dental public health is involved in the assessment of key dental health needs and coming up with effective solutions to improve the dental health of populations rather than individuals.
Dental Hygiene: Dental hygiene is the practice of keeping one’s mouth clean and free of disease and other problems (e.g. bad breath) by regular brushing of the teeth (Oral hygiene) and cleaning between the teeth. It is important that oral hygiene be carried out on a regular basis to enable prevention of dental disease and bad breath. The most common types of dental disease are tooth decay (cavities, dental caries) and gum diseases, including gingivitis, and periodontitis.

3. Endodontics & Orthodontics:

Endodontics: Endodontics encompasses the study of the basic and clinical sciences of normal dental pulp, the etiology, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases and injuries of the dental pulp along with associated periradicular conditions. Endodontic treatment is one of the most common procedures. If the dental pulp (containing nerves, arterioles, venules, lymphatic tissue, and fibrous tissue) becomes diseased or injured, endodontic treatment is required to save the tooth.
Orthodontics: Orthodontics is a dentistry specialty that addresses the diagnosis, prevention, and correction of mal-positioned teeth and jaws, and misaligned bite patterns. It may also address the modification of facial growth, known as dentofacial orthopedics.

4. Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery:

Oral and maxillofacial surgery is a surgical specialty focusing on reconstructive surgery of the face, facial trauma surgery, the oral cavity, head and neck, mouth, and jaws, as well as facial cosmetic surgery. An oral and maxillofacial surgeon is a regional specialist surgeon who treats the entire craniomaxillofacial complex: anatomical area of the mouth, jaws, face, and skull, head and neck as well as associated structures.

5. Oral Cancer and Oral pathology:

Oral cancer, disease characterized by the growth of cancerous cells in the mouth, including the lips. Oral cancer is often associated with cancers of the cavity located behind the tonsils and the back of the throat (oropharyngeal cancer). Most cases originate from the flattened cells that make up the lining of the oral cavity (squamous cell carcinomas). Oral cancers can spread into the jaw and may occur simultaneously with cancers of the larynx, esophagus, or lungs.

6. Orofacial & Cosmetic Dentistry:

Orofacial is relating to the mouth and face. Cosmetic dentistry is generally used to refer to any dental work that improves the appearance of teeth, gums. It primarily focuses on improvement in dental aesthetics in color, position, shape, size and overall smile appearance. Many dentists refer to themselves as “cosmetic dentists” regardless of their specific education, specialty, training, and experience in this field.

7. Pediatric & Geriatric Dentistry:

Pediatric dentistry is the branch of dentistry dealing with children from birth through adolescence. Pediatric dentists promote the dental health of children as well as serve as educational resources for parents. It is recommended by the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD).It may include advice on preventing injuries to the mouth and teeth of children, diet counseling, and information on growth and development. Geriatric dentistry, or Gerodontology, is the delivery of dental care to older adults involving the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of problems associated with normal aging and age-related diseases as part of an interdisciplinary team with other health care professionals. Geriatric dentistry is a crucial part of the health maintenance mechanism for the elderly and medically compromised individuals.

8. Restorative dentistry:

Restorative dentistry is a branch of dentistry that focuses on replacing damaged or missing teeth. These dentists primarily remove and repair cavities and provide treatment for other oral conditions. They also specialize in treating patients who need dental repairs due to trauma or injuries. Restorative dentists treat patients at every stage of life, including children, teens, adults, and seniors. Although, adults and older people seek restorative treatment most often. The goal of restorative dentistry is to save teeth and also restore the natural look, shape, and feel of natural teeth.

9. Laser dentistry:

Laser dentistry is defined as the branch of dentistry that uses lasers to treat several dental conditions that individuals have. The first time laser dentistry became commercially available was in 1989. It started with a tooth tissue procedure that was done with a laser. It is more comfortable, effective and also affordable compared to other dental treatments. Laser dentistry refers to light energy that is a thin beam of extremely focused light, exposed to a particular tissue so that it can be molded or eliminated from the mouth.

10. Aesthetic Dentistry:

Aesthetic Dentistry is a branch of Dentistry that helps to bring back the lost confidence of a person by fixing his/her dental problems. It also helps to give your teeth an aesthetic appearance. Aesthetic dentistry uses techniques available to modern medicine to give you a more natural, healthy look. Aesthetic dentists use techniques like regular cleanings, root canal removal, and the restoration of teeth with fillings or bridges to make your teeth look normal and healthy. The goal is to give you healthy teeth that function properly so that you can look your best and eat and talk normally.
