As part of the Asia-Pacific Housing Forum, the INNOVATE.SHELTER Competition will give an opportunity for organizations developing and implementing innovative projects that tackle housing problems to present their solutions to hundreds of delegates and organizations during the forum.

Inspired on the forum’s track on Technology for affordable housing, ten organizations will be selected to have their project featured at the INNOVATE.SHELTER catalogue, distributed to all attendees of the 6th Asia-Pacific Housing Forum. The top three innovations will also be invite to present during the Asia-Pacific Housing Forum, with two nights of paid accommodation in Hong Kong.

By championing innovation and bringing small and large organizations together, the Asia-Pacific Housing Forum aims to forge partnerships and develop opportunities around great and scalable ideas.

Benefits

Ten submissions will be selected to have their projects featured in the INNOVATE.SHELTER catalogue and will be entitled to the benefits detailed below. Of these ten projects, three will be chosen to be specially recognized and receive the following benefits:

Top three:

  • Invitation to be a panel speaker at one of the breakout sessions of the Asia-Pacific Housing Forum, within the track ‘Technology for affordable housing’.
  • One complimentary pass to attend the Asia-Pacific Housing Forum on September 6 and 7, 2017 (including networking dinner on September 6).
  • Accommodation for two nights in Hong Kong (September 5 to 7, 2017).
  • Booth/space in the exhibition area to display the project and/or products.
  • Recognition during the networking dinner and presented with an appreciation souvenir.
  • Project featured in the INNOVATE.SHELTER catalogue, distributed to all attendees of the 6th Asia-Pacific Housing Forum.

Other seven selected projects:

  • One complimentary pass to attend the Asia-Pacific Housing Forum on September 6 and 7, 2017 (including networking dinner on September 6).
  • Project featured in the INNOVATE.SHELTER catalogue, distributed to all attendees of the 6th Asia-Pacific Housing Forum.

Eligibilities

  • Organizations from any sector, including non-profit organizations, startups, social enterprises, private businesses, multilateral and public entities, academia or any combination of these organizations can submit projects.
  • Projects must have been carried out in the Asia-Pacific region.
  • Organizations must be legally established in their country of origin. Shortlisted organizations will be required to submit a copy their operational certificate or equivalent document.
  • The panel shortlisting project submissions to the INNOVATE.SHELTER competition reserves the right to ask for additional information in order to validate their inclusion in the catalogue.
  • Organizations whose projects are directly led or funded by Habitat for Humanity International and its affiliates are not eligible for participation in this competition.
  • Only one entry per organization is allowed.
  • Projects carried out by individuals are not eligible for this competition.

Application Process

Interested organizations can submit details about their project and impact by downloading the form available on aphousingforum.org/innovate-shelter/, filling the required information and sending it by email to [email protected].

Projects will be reviewed by a Habitat for Humanity International panel. A shortlist will be submitted to the Asia-Pacific Housing Forum’s Steering Committee. The Steering Committee will then make the final selection.
