  • Partially Funded

The Habitat for Humanity Young Leaders Build 2017 campaign brings together young people from across the Asia-Pacific region to support families in need of decent housing. Young people volunteer, fundraise and speak out for the need for decent and affordable housing as a way out of poverty and toward self-reliance.

As part of the 2017 campaign, Habitat for Humanity would like to invite eligible youth organizations and individuals to apply for advocacy grants.

Aim of the Grants:

  • Incentivize young people to undertake policy oriented advocacy activities during the HYLB campaign period (December to April).
  • Motivate more young people to become advocates on housing issues, leveraging their participation in the event as potential for advocacy.
  • Encourage young people to raise their voices on public policy issues on land and housing.
  • Use the opportunity for young people to make policy asks in a way that is suitable for them using various tactics.

Thematic Areas:

These grants will support advocacy activities that aim to impact policies by influencing decision makers, or change practice or systems in the following thematic areas:

  • Security of tenure ─ ensures that everyone has access to land for shelter without fear of eviction.
  • Gender and property rights ─ laws or policies that enable everyone to access land and housing.
  • Slum upgrading ─ an assurance or an opportunity for people living in slums to have secure tenure.
  • Disaster resilience ─ laws or policies that support disaster-affected people in accessing secure land tenure.
