icddr,b invites applications from suitable candidates for the position of Research Officer with Maternal and Child Nutrition under the Nutrition and Clinical Services Division.

Job Description

This position will be responsible to plan, organize and implement qualitative research with the objective of conducting high-quality research within the guidelines of the research protocols.

  • Protocol Development
    • Working with supervisor for writing research protocol to design study and develop research tools
    • Collaborate with other team members to share research knowledge
    • Provide major research ideas in the field of infection control and clinical governance for protocol development
    • Analyze protocol for feasibility of field implementation
    • Provide inputs on protocol and methodologies
    • Create preliminary budgets for protocols
    • Revise budgets after consultation with Research Investigator
    • Review protocol for adherence to qualitative research principles
    • Make appropriate suggestions in order to support creation of proposals and protocols with funding potential
  • Project Implementation
    • Understand research protocol, data collection techniques, project scope, guideline & questionnaire, methodology, timelines, target groups and, study sites etc
    • Prepare work plan for research protocol implementation
    • Literature review
    • Identify monitoring tools for quality assurance of data and feedback to the supervisors on field activities timely
    • Monitor progress of implementation team
    • Obtain informed written/oral consents from the respondents for participation in the study
    • Conduct Key Informant Interviews (KIIs) and Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), In Depth Interview (IDI)
    • Analyze data using the specific Qualitative data analysis software
    • Provide input and guidance to implementation team as required in order to execute research protocols and interventions, and conducting high-quality research
  • Scientific Analysis and Report Writing
    • Analyze data and sharing within team for consensus on research findings
    • Work with supervisor for scientific manuscript writing
    • Prepare scientific report and submit to research administration for clearance
    • Literature review for preparing reference for scientific articles in order to support scientific manuscript creation
  • Project Administration
    • Purchase items for the project, if in small quantities
    • Liaise with Procurement team for procurement of materials for large quantities
    • Provide purchase receipts and requests for petty cash to Finance team
    • Coordinate with Transport team for travel arrangements for the project staff
    • Arrange for accommodation at the field sites for project staff
    • Prepare for any logistical requirements for project implementation (e.g. creating copies of training material, scheduling training) in order to support project execution

Eligibilities

Education and relevant experience

  • Masters in any discipline; However preference will be given to candidates with Biological Science, Anthropology etc.
  • 2 years of relevant experience
