Coordination and Partnerships Officer Opportunity at UNDP Bangladesh 2020. Reporting to the Country Representative, the Coordination and Planning Officer will provide support to the Country Representative in inter-agency coordination, strategic programme planning, resource mobilization and partnership building, as well as advocacy and communication.

Duties And Responsibilities:

  • Contribute technically to the development of a partnership and coordination strategy of Bangladesh office:
  • Provide technical inputs to the design and formulation of UN Women’s partnership and coordination strategy for Bangladesh.
  • Provide substantive support to the Country Representative and the Country Office on UN inter-agency coordination for gender equality and women’s empowerment:

    • Manage the secretariat for the UN Gender Equality Theme Group (GETG) and regularly organize and manage meetings;
    • Facilitate UN Women and GETG engagement in the country level Comprehensive Country Assessment (CCA)/United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) processes and similar exercises related to the Resident Coordinator system;
    • Coordinate design and implementation of joint inter-agency initiatives to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment;
    • Prepare background materials and analysis for use by Gender Equality Theme Group the UN Country Team (UNCT) on the gender dynamics and opportunities to support the inclusive engagement of women in the development assistance provided by the UNCT;
    • Support monitoring and reporting on UNCT accountability to gender equality commitments and prepare progress reports for UN Women and RC, as necessary;
    • Inform the CO of joint programming opportunities and participate in the development of UN joint programmes, as necessary.
  • Provide technical support for stakeholder engagement and donor coordination on gender equality and women’s empowerment:

    • Provide support in managing activities and other events to engage bilateral and multilateral institutions/ donors, private sector and civil society to expand support and multi-stakeholder coordination for gender equality and women’s empowerment;
    • Support the management of the UN Women Civil Society Advisory Group;
    • Support UN Women’s active engagement in the Local Consultative Group mechanism.

  • Support the management, monitoring and reporting on UN Women’s coordination activities:

    • Provide inputs to Strategy Note and Annual Workplan on coordination activities, including budget and results framework;
    • Coordinate delivery of the day-to-day activities to ensure prompt and adequate delivery of results;
    • Monitor effective use of resources and compliance with UN Women rules, policies, and procedures as well as donor/fund requirements;
    • Provide inputs to quarterly reports and annual report on outputs, results outputs and outcomes;
    • Monitor budget implementation and programme activity expenditures and perform budget revisions when required.
    • Provide technical inputs to background documents, briefs and presentations;
    • Coordinate and support the organization of advocacy activities and campaigns events, training, workshops and knowledge products;
    • Provide inputs to the development of knowledge products;
    • Organize training and workshops on programme planning and coordination practices; Support advocacy, knowledge building and communication efforts:

      Key Performance Indicators:

    • Timely and quality contributions to the CO’s coordination efforts;
    • Quality inputs and technical support provided to UN agencies;
    • Quality inputs to planning processes and reports, and quality support to the Country Representative;
    • Increased awareness of UN Women’s work;
    • Increased resources mobilized and interest in GEWE among partners and donors.

Eligibilities

  • Master’s degree (or equivalent) in international development, public administration, public policy, or other relevant social science field is required;
  • A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree;
  • A project/programme management certification (such as PMP®, PRINCE2®, or MSP®) would be an added advantage.
  • At least 1-2 years of professional work experience working with inter-agency coordination and development, planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting of programmes;
  • Experience working in gender equality and women’s rights at the international level is an asset;
  • Experience working in developing countries within the UN system, Agencies, Funds or Programs is an asset.
  • Fluency in English and Bangla is required;
  • Working Knowledge of the other UN official working language is an asset.
