IOM is looking for National Project Officer (Site Planning) 2021 in Cox’s Bazar

General Functions: Under the direct supervision of the lead Site Planner in Cox’s Bazar office, the successful candidate will be part of the Site Development team. S/he will support in the implementation of site planning activities, including but not limited to documentation and design, rehabilitation, and upgrade assistance for camps, as well as coordination support for Site Planning and Site Development.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  1. Develop site plans and carry out the implementation of the site planning activities in camps and camp like settings in coordination with relevant units such as Shelter and WASH.
  2. Produce sketch designs, documentation (AutoCAD), presentation drawings (3D rendering / Adobe CC) and mapping (ArcGIS).
  3. Carry out site assessments to ensure the suitability of land for the development of site plans.
  4. Conduct regular site visits to verify in-depth understanding of the characteristics of the sites in Ukhia and Teknaf.
  5. Liaise with governmental entities on the development and implementation of projects relevant to site planning.
  6. Provide necessary information and documentation for the preparation of project proposals for IOM to contact potential donors and/or government agencies.
  7. Support the lead Site Planner on further developing the longer-term macro settlement development plan with data analysis and the production of visual aids.
  8. Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

Eligibilities

  • Master’s degree in Architecture, Urban Planning or a related field from an accredited academic institution with two years of relevant professional experience; or
  • University degree in Architecture, Urban Planning or a related field from an accredited academic institution with four years of relevant professional experience.
  • Experience in site planning is required;
  • Experience in computer aided drawing is required;
  • Experience in building design is required;
  • Experience with International Organizations and/or NGOs is an advantage;
  • Experience in camp rehabilitation and redevelopment is an advantage;
  • Experience working with bamboo is an advantage;
  • Experience in geographic information systems is an advantage;
  • Proficient in the use of CAD and mapping software (e.g. AutoCAD, GIS, etc.)
  • Good communications skills: written, verbal and visual (e.g. sketching, presentations, etc.)
  • Site measurements and demarcation
  • Understanding of site development works
