IOM is looking for a National Liaison Officer 2020 in Cox’s Bazar.

Under the direct supervision of DCoM (Emergencies) and overall supervision of the Chief of Mission IOM Bangladesh and close coordination with the relevant units, the National Liaison Officer will be responsible for assisting with the smooth and timely implementation of IOM’s activities in Cox’s Bazar.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Identify and maintain a relationship with relevant key local stakeholders (RRRC, army, civil society actors, academia, private sector, etc.) who have the capacity to facilitate and promote IOM’s activities in Bangladesh.
  • Assist with the program teams in obtaining necessary Government clearance and permissions.
  • Promote the participation of relevant national actors and other key stakeholders in events organized, led or coordinated by IOM such as strategic meetings, workshops, or training as necessary. Organize and/or facilitate those events as needed.
  • Arrange high-level meetings with senior Government high ranking military officials as well as corporate or private sector representatives;
  • Undertake continuous research/analysis on the changing of Government policies and priorities and advise IOM Program Managers for the development of relevant project implementation strategies.
  • Advise on protocol matters regarding all communications, correspondences between IOM and the local authorities. Draft and manage those correspondences as necessary;
  • Maintain an updated record of local stakeholders contact details via IOM corporate system;
  • Prepare and disseminate relevant information package and reports about IOM’s activities targeting local stakeholders with a view of fostering their understanding, acceptance, and ownership of those activities;
  • Facilitate Government and Embassy officials’ visits in Cox’s Bazar in relation to training, workshops, and other relevant events supported by IOM.
  • Perform such other duties that may be assigned by the supervisor.

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is an intergovernmental organization that provides services and advice concerning migration to governments and migrants, including internally displaced persons, refugees, and migrant workers. In September 2016, IOM became a related organization of the United Nations.

Eligibilities

  • Master’s degree in Disaster Management, Social Science, Sociology, Psychology or a related field from an accredited academic institution with two years of relevant professional experience; or,
  • University degree in the above fields with four years of relevant professional experience,
  • Practical experience in liaison and protocols with government entities,
  • Experience as Government Civil Servant at Senior Assistant Secretary level,
  • Knowledge of structures and functions of national and international organization.
