Location: Dhaka.
Duration of contract: 6 months.

ILO Internship Programme provides an opportunity for talented individuals to:

  • increase understanding of relevant issues at the international level by involving them directly in the work of the Office and the application of ILO principles, programmes and strategies;
  • gain practical experience with the ILO directly related to their field of study.

The internship programme is not intended to lead to a career in the ILO. There should be no expectation of further employment at the end of the internship. ILO values diversity. They welcome applications from qualified women and men, particularly those with disabilities and from non – or under-represented member States.

Important: Please only apply for an internship if you fulfil the following two criteria:

  • You have no close relative serving in the ILO.
  • This is your first internship with the ILO (only one internship is permitted).

Two Internship positions are expected to assist the project to deliver the tasks covering:
(i) providing support to program officers,
(ii) documentation management,
(iii) monitoring and evaluation (data collection and analysis),
(iv) training coordination offered by the ILO within its SDIR project.

The internship positions are intended to offer opportunities for young graduates to gain experience working in development cooperation project environment by participating in and facilitating data collection, analysis, monitoring and evaluation aspects involving a wide area of ILO constituents and third parties concerned with SDIR project in the Bangladesh Ready-Made Garment Industry.

Benefits

The ILO will pay a monthly amount of equivalent US$ 500.00 (USD Five hundred) which comprises a stipend of US$ 450.00 (USD Four hundred fifty) and the sum of USD 50.00 (Fifty) as a contribution towards the cost of medical insurance to cover the period of internship.

Eligibilities

  • Candidates must be enrolled in the final year of a postgraduate degree programme (such as a Master’s Degree or equivalent), or in a higher-level degree programme, or have completed such programme in the year preceding the application;
  • Postgraduate studies in social science, law or business administration or another relevant discipline;
  • Experience in academic training on research methodology, data collection techniques and analysis of social data and writing reports and documentation;
  • Understanding in the orientation of development projects, industrial relations and social dialogue and broad understanding of RMG sector labour issues in Bangladesh;
  • Excellent command of English and Bangla (written and spoken).
