In the present government’s manifesto, the resources of the sea, called the “blue economy”, have created a new opportunity to develop Bangladesh. The blue economy offers unlimited prospects via: sea ports, navigation, fishing, marine plants, oil and gas, mineral resources, new land and islands surfacing in the waters, sea tourism, and other possibilities for growth and employment.

As Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina emphasized the marine-based economic activities and management of sea and its resources through “Blue Economy” and she also stressed the need for tapping the huge potentials of sea and sea resources through proper management to ensure sustainable development, for that this conference will be time demanding and effective approach to create mass awareness on the marine-based economic activities through Blue Economy.

GreenTech Foundation Bangladesh along with Blue Economy Cell, Ministry of Power, Energy & Mineral Resources and Department of Oceanography, University of Dhaka are planning to organize a Conference on “Sustainable Blue Economy for the Development of Bangladesh”
