BUP Development Leaders' Club presents Devthon 2020 in Bangladesh

BUP Development Leaders’ Club is pleased to announce its flagship event Devthon 1.0, aimed to bring out the essence of creative development thinking and capability building among the concerned young development thinkers as contestants.

The idea of Devthon 1.0 is to engage the young participants to run an innovative development marathon lasting 3 weeks that will involve them in pursuits of ‘what is and what could be’ in the development field.
Do you have what it takes to undertake three weeks of intense problem solving and critical engagement in the field of development?

As the future of the nation, youth development and their creative thinking act as the foundation to the utilization of demographic dividend. BUPDLC’s Devthon is a platform to introduce students in the field of development practices allowing them to think for future prospects forwards for the nation and the world.

There will be 2 separate segments for this event.
1. Development Case Competition (For Undergrad students)
2. Essay Writing (For college students i.e. Grade 11 and 12)

The details of the 2 segments are as follows-

1. Development Case Competition (For Undergrad Students):
This segment will include only undergraduate students who can participate in ‘Development Case Competition’. Teams should consist of 3-4 members and can form cross-university teams. The teams will be provided with a case which they have to read and find a concise solution for.

The first round will be an online round which will be on Urban Poverty and Unemployment. Relevant information will be provided to the participants regarding the problem & its possible solutions. The case link is given in the official link. Read the case along with the guidelines and submission details carefully.
The submissions of the participants will be assessed on the basis of proper identification of the problem (Task 1), along with proper rationale to the solution of the problem (Task 2), these will be the main focus of this round.
Shortlisted participants of the Online Round will proceed to the 2nd Round.

2. Essay Writing (For College level students i.e. Classes 11 & 12):
This segment is open for nationwide college students, who are interested in being engaged in development thinking and nation-building. Participating students will have to submit a Critical Essay on ‘How to Achieve Zero Hunger in Bangladesh by 2030’ within 1000 words. Best essays will be shortlisted and they will proceed to the presentation round, where they will be presenting their ideas in front of a panel of esteemed judges. Final Presentation Round of the Shortlisted students will take place on 10th February at 11:00 AM in BUP Campus.

    Champion- 70,000 Taka;
    1st Runner Up- 50,000 Taka;
    2nd Runner Up- 30,000 Taka.
  • Prize Pool for essay competition:
    Champion- 10,000 Taka;
    1st Runner Up- 5,000 Taka;
    2nd Runner Up- 3,000 Taka.
