8th International Children’s Film Festival Bangladesh (24-30 January 2015) is calling for films made for and by children. The film competitions invites children as well as all young adults to participate in separate age-based competitions.

About the Festival:

International Children’s Film Festival Bangladesh is an annual film festival held countrywide, which showcases full length feature, short, experimental films made for and by children, including documentaries, from around the world. Founded in 2008, it is the most prestigious and renowned film festival organized for the young generation in Bangladesh.

The festival prevails with the vision of opening a new world of movies to the children of Bangladesh and exposing them to a diversity of cultures and traditions from various nations through cinema. One of the primary missions of the festival is to provide the youth with a platform to showcase their talent in media and to understand its role in bringing attention to various social issues and in learning through entertainment.

The 8th edition of the festival will be held simultaneously in Dhaka & six other divisional cities from 24-30 January 2015. The organizer of the festival is Children’s Film Society Bangladesh. The festival is non-competitive in nature but there are 3 different category of competitions will be held. Feature, short, animation and documentary film suitable for children below 18 years old will be shown in the festival.

Sections

There will be following Competitive Sections in the festival:

Children Filmmakers’ Section: Films made by Bangladeshi Children, who are up to 18 years old, are eligible for this section. The duration of the film should be less than 20 minutes.

International Section: There is no age limit for the directors to participate. There is no limit of duration for the films.

Young Bangladeshi Filmmakers’ Section: Films made by Young Bangladeshi Filmmakers, aged between 19-25 years, are eligible for this section. The duration of the film should be less than 25 minutes.

Social Film Section: Theme for this year: CHILD EARLY AND FORCED MARRIAGE. All the films must be made based on a story related to the theme. Films made by Young Filmmakers, aged up to 25 years, are eligible for this section. Type of the film can be short fiction, documentary or animation. The duration of the film should be less than 30 minutes. This section is supported by The High Commission of Canada in Bangladesh. Deadline for this particular section is 30th December, 2014.

  1. Best Film: Crest, Certificate & Cash Award of BDT 25,000
  2. 2nd Best Film: Crest, Certificate & Cash Award of BDT 15,000
  3. 3rd Best Film: Crest, Certificate & BDT 10,000
  4. Two Special Awards: Crest, Certificate
  • International Filmmakers’ Awards:
  1. Best Director: Crest, Certificate
  2. Best Feature Film : Crest, Certificate
  3. Best Short Film : Crest, Certificate
  • Young Talent Award : Crest, Certificate
  • Social Film Award : Crest, Certificate
